    Install Maestra

    Open the link, run the installer and follow it. It is signed on Windows and signed and notarised by Apple on the Mac.

  3. Step 3 · One restart of Live

    Connect Ableton Live

    Authorize Maestra in your browser, install the Remote Script from inside the app, then restart Live once and pick Maestra.

Step 2

Install on Windows or Mac

You need Ableton Live 11.3 or later, in any edition, on the same computer.

Windows

Windows 10 (version 2004 or later) or Windows 11, 64-bit.

  1. Open the download link in your invite email, or sign in to your account and download the Windows build there.
  2. Open the installer and follow it. It takes under a minute, sets up everything Maestra needs and asks for no administrator password.
  3. If Windows says it protected your PC, choose More info, then Run anyway.
  4. On the last page, leave Launch Maestra Agent ticked and finish.

Mac

macOS 13 or later on a Mac with Apple silicon.

  1. Open the download link in your invite email, or sign in to your account and download the Mac build there.
  2. Open the installer package and follow the steps. It takes under a minute.
  3. The installer is signed and notarised by Apple, so macOS opens it without any override.
  4. Open Maestra Agent from your Applications folder.

Step 3

Connect Ableton Live

The first time Maestra opens, it walks you through this. The same on both computers.

  1. Choose Authorize Maestra. Your browser opens; confirm there, and the app is activated.
  2. Choose Install or update to add the Maestra Remote Script to Live. You can run it again any time from Settings → Ableton.
  3. Quit Ableton Live and open it again. Live only loads new Remote Scripts when it starts.
  4. In Live, open Settings → Tempo & MIDI and select Maestra as a Control Surface. The app sees Live answer by itself.
  5. Say hi in the chat. From then on, Ctrl+Alt+Q (Cmd+Alt+Q on a Mac) brings Maestra up over Live from anywhere.

From version 1.0.3, Maestra checks for new versions itself and offers them in the app. You choose when to install, and it never closes Live.
